A letter from the Beale Street National Historical Foundation, written in honor of the 100th anniversary of the opening of the store. Written on July 31, 1975, the text of the letter is as follows.
"Dear Mr. Schwab,
The Board of Directors of the Beale Street National Historical Foundation note with delight the celebration of your 99 years in business. The fame and fun of Beale Street is world renown because of institutions like yours.
We understand the fourth generation of Schwabs is now in the store. That kind of faith in downtown Memphis and what Beale Street will be, is an example for all of Memphis.
CONGRATULATIONS! We wish you many more years of success in that location; and we are coming down to visit, shop, and receive your souvenir commemorative button.
