Description

A letter from Memphis Mayor James H. Malone to S.H. and Walter Lamb, written on November 27, 1908.

The contents of the letter are as follows,

"Gentlemen:-

In answer to your favor of Nov. 26th., I beg to state that of you are under the impression that front foot Ordinance #38 did not receive my most careful consideration you are very much in error. While my sympathy was with you and the petition, my judgement was to the contrary.

Since the receipt of your letter I have looked up Ordinance #38 and find that some months ago upon my suggestion it was referred to a committee on streets, bridges and sewers in both Boards, so that if they found I was in error in the premises they could so report.
I placed the petition in the hands of Mr. Moran this morning with the request that he investigate and report on the matter and he says that he will take it up and go with you gentlemen upon the premises.
You can see him further in regard to the matter.

Very truly yours,

[James H Malone]
[Mayor]

Note: The letter includes an original signature.
