Correspondence
Memphis (Tenn.)

Description

A letter from historic Memphis mayor Edward Hull Crump to Mr. S. H. Lamb on July 17, 1913.

The contents of the letter are as follows:

"Dear Sir:

My first impulse after reading your communication of
the 15th inst. [sic], was not to answer it, for a letter written in
such a spirit is not calculated to have a good effect.
When you say you have not been able to "find any truth
or honesty in Mr. Love", you have no doubt indicated this
sentiment whenever you have approached him.
I have always found Mr. Love willing to deal fairly with
the taxpayers when they have shown the same spirit to him. I
hardly know what else to say to you.

Yours very truly,

[E.H. Crump]

Mayor

Note: The letter contains the original signature of Mr. Crump.
